The Victim Advocate Center is here to support you during difficult and often overwhelming moments. Whether you have been affected by a crime, are supporting a loved one, or need guidance navigating the legal process, we are committed to providing compassionate, confidential, and professional assistance every step of the way.

Our Victim Advocate works closely with officers in both patrol and investigations to ensure that victims and witnesses receive timely support, accurate information, and access to critical resources. You are not alone—help is available.

How We Can Help

Our services are designed to meet your needs and support you through recovery and the justice process:

  • Crisis intervention and emotional support
  • Guidance on your rights as a victim under Florida law
  • Assistance with filing protective injunctions (restraining orders)
  • Court accompaniment and case support
  • Referrals to counseling, shelter, and community resources
  • Coordination with local, county, and state agencies
  • Safety planning and resource navigation

We also work behind the scenes to ensure victims receive timely notifications, proper documentation, and connections to certified support services as required by Florida law.

Legal Support & Your Rights

Understanding the legal process can feel overwhelming—we are here to help you navigate it.

  • Assistance with filing injunctions for protection (domestic violence, stalking, etc.)
  • Court accompaniment and updates on your case
  • Referrals to the Office of the State Attorney, 15th Judicial Circuit
  • Access to self-help resources through Florida Courts

Victims in Florida are entitled to specific rights under state law, including the right to be informed, protected, and heard. Our team will help ensure those rights are upheld.

Community Support & Outreach

The Victim Advocate Center is also dedicated to education and prevention. We provide:

  • Community presentations and awareness programs
  • Informational brochures and safety planning tools
  • Training for department members and community groups
  • Support for volunteers and interns interested in advocacy work
