Technical Services

Technical Services is an invaluable aspect of our departmental function. They innovate our technical systems to be as effective as possible.  Their efforts aid us in organizing and compiling statistical data, as well as maintaining a record of all reports generated in the field.

Some very exciting innovations are taking place in this unit. Cellular modems have been installed in all of our patrol vehicles. Technical Services and Records Management have made it possible for our officers to generate a report in the field (on their issued laptop computer) and transmit that report via an encrypted signal to their supervisor for approval. Upon approving the report, the report will be locked (so that it can not be altered in any way), and a copy will be electronically forwarded to the records division. This system allows our officers to stay on the street, in their assigned geographical areas, for their entire shift. 

Technical services is also working in conjunction with several members of the department to implement the testing of smart car technology, which will allow officers to run tags through our computer system by voice and get the results back on a head's up display in the patrol car!  There are many progressive changes that we are making to serve our community at unprecedented levels!
