Off-Duty Details

On occasion, businesses or even private individuals call the department and inquire about the process of hiring off-duty police personnel to provide security for a business, traffic control for a large scale private event, or high visibility enforcement in a neighborhood.

All off-duty details must be approved by the Chief of Police or his designee. Additionally, officers need to sign up for the opportunity once it is approved and posted.  So it is always a good idea to submit a request in a timely fashion.

For more information on this process, please contact Sgt. Steve Wessendorf at 561.742.6107.

Some special events permits may require the employment of off-duty police personnel.

The department cannot order an officer to work a detail; however, once an officer signs up to work the detail, they are obligated to fulfill their duty.
