Major Wendy Unger

Major Wendy Unger started her law enforcement career as a New York City Housing Authority Police Officer.

Major Unger patrolled the housing projects of Bedford Stuyvesant and Red Hook, Brooklyn, for four years as a Road Patrol Officer and Project Community Officer.  She began her career with the Boynton Beach Police Department in December of 1989.

As a road patrol officer, Major Unger served as a Field Training Officer, and in 1996 became the first female police officer in the department to be promoted to sergeant. 

As a sergeant, Major Unger served as a Field Training Sergeant, as the Public Information Officer, an Internal Affairs Investigator, and a grant writer. 

In 2001, Major Unger was promoted to lieutenant and served as a Uniformed Services Watch Commander. She then took command of the Professional Standards Division, which included the Internal Affairs Unit, Grant Writing, Media Relations and Public Records requests. In 2004, Major Unger took command of the Investigative Services unit, which includes the Detective Bureau, Crime Scene, Evidence, Asset Forfeiture and the Victim Advocate's Office.

Major Unger is currently the Support Services Division Commander. This division includes the Detective Bureau, Crime Scene, Evidence, Asset Forfeiture, the Victim Advocate, Crime Analysis, National Information Management Systems, Records and Communications.

Major Unger began her career as a New York City Housing Authority Police Officer.

Major Unger has her Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from Barry University. She is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute's Command Officer Development Course and the Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Program. Major Unger is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University.
