Sadly, many animals suffer a life of neglect and abuse. Failure
to meet the minimum standards for animal care and ownership can
result in criminal penalties, including felony charges, for an
owner.
All animals must be provided with basic
sustenance - including food, water, shelter,
inoculations and medical treatment when necessary.
All animals must also be provided with
adequate, sanitary living quarters appropriate for the
species.
The
Animal Control Division works closely with the State Attorney's
Office to procure criminal prosecution of any person found to be
in violation of the anti-cruelty law. There is no acceptable
excuse for intentionally, or knowingly, causing an animal to
suffer!
Animals are innocent victims, much like children, that require
our protection. If you know of a situation where an animal is
being neglected or is at risk of abuse or harm, please call the
Animal Control Division at 561.742.6210 or click here.
