The Boynton Beach Police Department was initially accredited by
the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement in 2001. It was
re-accredited in 2004.
Accreditation increases community understanding of a police
department and its goals and objectives.
The accreditation program was
designed with consideration for the following goals:
-
To establish and maintain standards
that represent current police practices;
-
To increase effectiveness and
efficiency in the delivery of police services;
-
To establish standards that address
and reduce liability for the agency and its members;
-
To establish standards that make an
agency and its members accountable to the community they
serve.
Accreditation is a coveted award that symbolizes
professionalism, excellence and competence.
Chief G. Matthew Immler was the first member of the B.B.P.D. to
successfully navigate our department into compliance with
FLA-PAC accreditation standards. in 2001.
